Welcome Back everyone!
I want to welcome you all back to school. It is hard to believe that our students have been out of the traditional classroom since the middle of March. The world has changed quite a bit since then, but I want to reassure the families and students of Beaver Dam Elementary School that the time is right to get back to learning. With three choices to keep your students safe during this pandemic, I am sure that our students will be focused and engaged with their education.
My family and I live in St. George, Utah. I have been a principal in elementary, junior high and high school levels. I have taught high school and elementary school as well. I love to be active. I love to be outdoors and I love being an educator.
This year we have some new teachers joining us. They are very excited to be a part of such an excellent school. We have Haley Pickett joining us in 1st Grade; Tanner Williams will be a new 5th grade teacher; and Brandy Wymer is our new 6th grade teacher. Each of these teachers, along with the returning faculty, is excited to meet their new class. It is going to be a fantastic year!
One of the top determining factors of your child’s success in school is parental involvement. Please stay actively engaged in your child’s education. Here are some questions that might help get a conversation about school going:
- Please tell me about the best part of your day (and it cannot be going home).
- Tell me about what you are reading in your class.
- Can you teach me something that you learned today?
Please help your child get a quality education. Make sure that your students are present and ready to learn each day. Students who get adequate sleep at night, have clean clothes to wear and have eaten a good breakfast are better prepared for school and actively participate in their classes.
I look forward to meeting each of our students. Please feel free to drop by the school or call if you have any questions or concerns. If you need to talk with your child’s teacher, you will need to set up a time when there are not students in the classroom. Please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher via email or a phone call to set up a meeting.
Let’s all have a fabulous year!
