Dear Beaver Dam Elementary Families,

Welcome back, to those who are returning, and a brand new “welcome” to everyone new to Beaver Dam Elementary.

The teaching and support staff are looking forward to a rewarding school year which will be marked by student success and hard work on everyone’s part. We know that it is only by working together, as partners with families, that our students can have a superior school experience.

We are very fortunate to have an active, dedicated Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that supports the instructional and enrichment programs at Beaver Dam Elementary. We invite you to join the PTO and participate in their monthly meetings which focus on topics of interest to our parents. Look for more information from the PTO on August 27 at Back to School Night.

We understand that communication is of utmost importance in establishing a successful home/school partnership. In an effort to inform our parents about policies and procedures, we inserted some important information in a school information packet that we mailed out early in July. Please review this information and let us know if you have questions. In addition, please look in the “Wednesday” folders, sent from your child’s classroom each week on Wednesday, for calendar updates and other school information. We will also send information updates separately as needed.

We have some other great news to stir up some excitement prior to your return to school:

1. A take home leveled library has been organized at Beaver Dam Elementary to allow all of our students to take home a leveled book every night!
2. 63 students at Beaver Dam Elementary will be going to the movies because they met or exceeded the standards in all areas of the AIMS test.
3. Because of our DIBELS (reading test) results, we were awarded year 4 Reading First sustainability funds allowing us to keep a Reading Coach and a Reading Intervention Teacher. This will allow us to continue excellent reading support for all students.

We will work together to do all that we can to ensure that this school year is a safe, productive and successful one for your children. We look forward to working with you and welcoming our returning and new students and their families.
