We would like to introduce our new 2016-2017 LUSD Superintendent and 7-12 Principal, Ms. Lael Calton. Ms. Calton is originally from West Yellowstone, Montana, where she taught foreign language, business, and accounting courses. She is very proud to have raised her four children in a small, rural school district as she truly appreciates small towns and all the amenities they have to offer children and families. After 15 years of teaching, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and worked her way up through the same district filling many roles including Activities Director, Elementary Principal, 7-12 Principal, and ultimately District Superintendent. She retired from her previous district 2 years ago; and, she and her husband moved to Mesquite as snowbirds. However, during her second year of retirement, she realized how much she missed students and wanted to work with them again. She was immediately drawn to the Littlefield Unified School District as it was so similar to her previous district.
Ms. Calton is extremely excited to begin working in Beaver Dam. She has met many wonderful students, staff, and community members already whom have not only made her transition to Beaver Dam very seamless; but also she feels so welcome by all. In fact, she says, “I feel right at home.”
